“Māori is Māori” - But what does this mean?

Let me explain...

These were orginially made for our home,

Another lesson for our boys.

One disk, a symbol of myself,
thee other, my Husband.

But how is that so and which is which you may ask?

Well, the mere fact that this could be in question when presented with these and the short description may very well be the problem… But let’s move passed that for a minute. Because this needs addressing.

The basic elements of these two pieces, are representing an aspect of our biology that is the same. Same canvas, same medium, same pattern, same texture. And it does not matter how these 4 elements look, are laid out or if there is more or less of one element than another.

They are still the same thing.

Two representations of Māori.

And as in life, we cannot assume ‘which is which’ or ‘what’ or ‘who’ people are, merely just from what we see or hear… but rather, need to consider the basic ancestral elements that make them human and present in this day to begin with.

You are, what you are made of.

And ‘part Māori’ is STILL, Māori!
